A tale of three papers

Three news organizations, two completely different messages.

  • Bloomberg's Julianna Goldman: Obama Arrives in Iraq With Support for Troop Withdrawal Plan
  • Politico's Jonathan Martin: News in terror hot spots appears to aid Obama
  • New York Times' Tavernise and Zeleny: Comment Stings Maliki as Obama Arrives in Baghdad

The NYT's account actually buries some high quality original reporting (like confirmation that the translation of Maliki was accurate and Maliki's top aide saying on the record “Shouldn’t we look to an end for this unhealthy situation?”). Meanwhile, the Bloomberg account buries the Maliki walk-back, but reports it uncritically. (Still, the headline and first few graphs make no mention of this caveat.) It's all quite bizarre.
