McCain's Phil Gramm Dilemma Continues

John Aravosis catches Steve Forbes intimating that Phil Gramm is returning to the McCain campaign (or that he never really left).

The problem that McCain has is that most conservatives just love Phil Gramm, but the rest of America hates what he stands for. Meanwhile, the conservatives that love Gramm the most are also the ones who are most skeptical about McCain.

It's a worth remembering that even though McCain all but wrapped up the nomination in early February (finally clinching in early March) he still won just 46.7% of the Republican primary vote. (GOP primary rules are more standardized than on the Democratic side, so the popular vote is a little more relevant.)
