Irreconcilable contradictions

The Las Vegas Gleaner offers a smackdown of John McCain's nonsensical defense of his nuclear policy.

  1. McCain wants to dump the nation's nuclear waste in Yucca Mountain just outside of Las Vegas because it would be a "significant national security risk" to leave spent fuel at nuclear reactors
  2. McCain wants to build 45 new nuclear reactors around the country
  3. Before spent fuel could be trucked to Vegas (bypassing Arizona, of course), it has to 'cool' for at least five years before it could be shipped.
  4. Therefore, even if McCain gets his way and turns Nevada into the nation's nuclear waste dump, his plan will create more spent fuel stored around the country at nuclear reactors.

The Gleaner goes into detail in "McCain outlines plan to make America more vulnerable".
