The Which Drudge Blare Project, Pt. 2

KDKA:

Police sources tell KDKA that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Three points:

  1. No reporter should ever listen to anything Matt Drudge ever says again, period. He's done. Over. Toast. Proceed at your own risk.
  2. The young woman who made up this story is deeply disturbed and needs help. She sought to enflame racial tensions at a point in our country's history when we could finally be overcoming some of them. That is a hideous sin, but rather than wanting to see her punished, I want to see her recover, because this is a cancer that we can no longer afford in our nation.
  3. Conservative bloggers like Michelle Malkin who held their fire (edit: actually, expressed their skepticism) deserve credit for not trying to enflame the divisions in this country. I won't say this often, but thanks. My only hope is that they could be this honest more often.
