Towards the end of the New York Times' devastating, must-read story on how Mitch McConnell devised the GOP's obstructionist game plan comes this nugget:

Mr. McConnell, who was first elected to the Senate in 1984 with the help of a Roger Ailes-produced advertisement that showed bloodhounds searching for his opponent, has had his ups and downs as a leader.

That's right: the GOP's obstructionist-in-chief was elected in part thanks to the media savvy of Roger Ailes...the same Roger Ailes who now runs Fox News, the GOP's 24x7 media empire.
